About Us
Established in 2006
Prior to starting New Generation in 2006, I had been a Registered Nurse for 10 years working in the ICU setting doing direct patient care. I resigned my job as an ICU nurse and decided to focus on Community Care to help patients remain within the community. I took it upon myself to learn about the requirements for being a Community Health care provider, I also equipped myself with resources that could be provided to the patients while in the community in an effort to prevent re-hospitalization.
I noticed that most of the patients were being readmitted after being discharged home for a few days due to improper care being delivered in the home setting and lack of follow up care. At the beginning, it was very hard to navigate the system because as an organization we had to be the middle man between physicians and patients while dealing with several health insurance companies. Initially services were provided for patients with private insurances, but eventually we were able to enroll under the different Medicaid waiver programs. Eventually we mastered the process and also discovered that there were additional needs in the community for individuals who had disabilities and traumatic brain injuries due to the overwhelming need of care that the family had to provide.
Therefore, we enrolled with Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability (DBHDD) and Independent Care Waiver Program (ICWP) to meet the respective needs for this group of patients.
Once we started providing these services, our network tremendously grew and we have been able to reach out to several patients and families. A right team was recruited to run the separate programs in an effort to stay the course of serving the community and it has been very rewarding to see the growth that New Generation Health Services has obtained over the years, not only as an organization but also the growth that the team members have attained. Today we provide services through several programs, SOURCE, CCSP, ICWP, GAPP, NOW/ COMP and Private Pay clients.
